I have some prints to mount is spray glue ok to use on matt?
I have some prints to mount. I've got a matt cutter, and I wondered if it's ok to use photo mount adhesive, or should I tape the print on? These are not valuable prints btw, but I still want them to look good.
I was going to cut some mount board as a backing and spray glue the print to the board, then glue the front mount board on. Is that ok? Does anyone have any tips?
I've used Kodak and 3M Photo Adhesive sprays since 1976 to mount prints to matte-board and to foam-core board, and have NEVER had a problem with appearance or adherence.
We put the prints FACE down, spray them and the matte... let them get "tacky", and then press them together carefully so as not to trap air-bubbles. We then use a soft-cloth to rub out any air-bubbles, and put the prints between several books to give them time to set.
If we used double Matte boards, we used a photo tape to put the backing onto the front, and it usually lasts 10 years at least.
We've done over 500 prints like that, and have NEVER had a problem.
